I didn't have anything "special" for my 16th BD; as we were poor.
My Father died, two months to the day, before I turned 3.
My most celebrated BD was my 10th, by my Sister, Vivian. I had a party. She bought me, my heart's desire, a full-circle skirt and a baton.
I was married, before I turned 16 and had a baby, June 16th. She died July 29th.
Nothing causes more pain in your heart, nothing! No one could console me and I still cannot wait to die and see My Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ and my baby, who will be 30 and so will I!!!!!
I just suffered an major heart attack and then a blockage. I "died" a total of 3 times, from blood clots, sucking into the stent and closing off my air supply. The surgeon took great pride in telling me off, "I saved YOUR life!"
To which, I replied, "The LORD permitted YOU to save my life; because He is not finished with me and I still have work to do for Him or I would have stayed "dead". I am not afraid to die. I live by this:"You do the best you can, with what you've got and leave the rest to God!" You cannot change this, add to it or take anything away from it. God bless you, sir for doing what God has called you to do. You will be blessed most graciously and financially. I, Thank God for YOU being in the right place, at the right time."
He continued, "I almost cut-off both your legs!"
I replied calmly, "Thank God, He saw fit to tell you; "Don't do that!"; as He knows my heart and that would've been a death sentence for me; as I would've committed suicide and He would NEVER permit me to do that! Once again, I "Thank You, most Kindly, kind sir." That's all I have to give you at the moment; but I shall be praying for your soul.
Live by this everyday:"Lord, help me to remember; that nothing is going to happen to me today; that You and I, together cannot handle."
God bless you today and all your tomorrows with great joy, happiness and prosperity!"(All who reads this, too!)

Yep, I know someone who didn't get to celebrate his 16th birthday. He was a tall slim dark haired dark eyed handsome young man. His name, "Major", was scrawled in big gold letters on the back of his school jacket and everybody knew him. He was a most entertaining big brother to four sisters and his baby brother. The old folks in the neighborhood loved his visits and spontanious gifts of animal card decks. The mothers in the area would call him to babysit before they'd use any of the girls offering the same service. And because I was his mother, I can say he was the neatest kid to raise. He drowned when he was 13 years old and we all still miss him.

Sure. In my case, my mother made a wonderful shrimp dinner and other favorites for my 16th birthday...then my father came home with a friend and they ate the ENTIRE meal by themselves. I recall doing homework in my room and going to bed without eating dinner that night...same with the other family members. But I appreciated my mother's attempt and at least the good aromas in the house.

Yep. Many people, for many reasons - including a friend who died, and two students who died before their 16th birthdays.

I didn't have a great celebration. It was small and in my rec room. It doesn't really matter in the overall picture. You'll get over it.
