Isnt the league rule that the home team can choose to wear whichever color jerseys they want? Why then do they wear the white ones?

In regards to persons saying that the away jerseys are the dark ones - my point was that my understanding was that the hometeam is allowed to choose the jersey color for each game - why then would they feel "obligated" to wear their white ones when the Cowboys came to town. My philosophy would be if I was the hometeam to wear my better looking home dark jerseys and to hell with what the Cowboys want....

its a simple strategy that a team...i think washington adopted but im not totally sure. yes you are right the home team does get to chose what jersey they wish to wear, and usually the home team picks the dark colors. However the cowboys at home usually wears their white jerseys. they practice in white, and they wear white all the time. the QB always looks for the white Jerseys.
so what does the home team do? they chose to wear white instead, so the cowboys MUST wear their blue jerseys, in which the cowboys players are not accustomed in playing in their blue jerseys. it worked one game when i remember a cowboy linebacker did not tackle the other player because he was in white. i doubt it works anymore, but as madden said it once
"the cowboys don't look like cowboys when they wear blue"

so the home teams are not forced to wear their white jerseys, they chose to wear those jerseys

The truth be told it was the Cowboy's who historically took advantage of the "home team chooses" rule. Most teams choose to wear darker colors at home, it makes you look bigger, and the Cowboys, for whatever reason, were the exception to the rule choosing to wear white at home. That is why you see them wearing white almost everytime they play.

The home team does get to choose.

Sometimes the home team picks to wear white, though. That makes Dallas wear blue, which they don't do very often, and the idea is it puts the cowboys off their game.

It's all psychological, though.

Im not sure any of these answers are right.
The Dallas home jersey is white, and their away jersey is the dark navy blue. ( i think )

So when they visited the Giants (whose home jersey is also blue) the Giants chose to wear white with red numbers.
