Syntagma square in Athens. That' s were the Parlament is, and one of the main shopping streets of the city starts there, . There are many central squares in a city this big ofcourse, besides we have a tradition in having many squares but i d say thats the main one.

In New York City we have Washington Square at West 4th Street, Herald Square at 33rd Street if you want to go shopping, but the big main area in NYC is Central Park, so maybe the Bandshell there.

Trafalgar Square. It's rubbish now the pigeons have gone. Leicester Square is full of alkies. Parliament Square is jammed with traffic 24/7. London has lots of squares. None very good but come anyway.

Life'sgreat': wouldn't Krasnaya Ploschad' in Moscow qualify as a square?

Haven't even seen one in this city... but we have a great 'city garden' (actually a park)... and we're not in Moscow but we do have a 'Gorky Park' which is pretty cool...
