I wrote an article related to that in "Philosophy Now" The quest for truth is one that involves understanding what is the foundation for all knowledge. For myself I believe that there exists self evident truth. I think, therefore I am. Why is this self evident? Because, denial introduces a contradiction, the one who asks the question and then denies it, denies their own existence. This is absurd, to exist allows one to decide. To deny means you have made a decision, thus, one must exist consciously to make any decision. Once the discovery of self existence is established, one can investigate the next question, Where did I come from? The simplify the answer, I'll just cut through my lengthy reasoning, God. He is the source of truth, our existence is a result of His creative work. Here is another self evident truth, circles do not have sides. All right angles are 90 degrees. Rational thought is the only way to achieve certain knowledge.

Irina as you can see from these answers everyone has their own truth. Isn't that interesting? There can only be one answer if you are spiritual and believe in God. If we base our truth in religion then we have a divine blueprint of how we should live our lives. God controls the universe and is the begining and the end.

OK, so what's a "real truth" then?
Without a definition of that, it's impossible to compare what we know with "real truth."
For me, our understanding of everything there is to know will never be complete -- there will always be more to learn. But we have indeed found "real truth" in lots of places, especially in the area of science. "Real truth" in that sense would be knowing a particular subject well enough to fully use it in every way possible.

I think we can be on the right track with many things, but I doubt that half the things we accept as truth are really the whole truth.

We have never known a real truth so I imagine it must be something else. Our conscious capacity will not allow us to know a real truth. Someday, however, we may.

All that could matter is our own collective perspectives. If we were meant to see more, we would.
