At this point? yes, they're worried. Republicans would be too.
But they won't loose power. Johnson is in the middle of his term, so all he has to do is stay alive. If he does that, the Dems are a man down, but they still have a 50-49 advantage. And that means everyone will show up to fundraisers done by the 2 independents. (Lieberman and Sanders)
But Democrats will hold the majority for now. And Johnson is not out yet- remember that. he holds his seat until death, resignation, or end of term. recently, Death looked likely. But those are the only 3 ways a senator can be removed from office once he's in.

The democrats have a comfortable majority in the House. From all accounts Johnson is doing well after surgery. There have been plenty of cases where members of congress have kept their seats while recuperating from an illness.
What's disgusting is seeing some on the right circling like vultures, anticipating Johnson's death.

No the republican governor can't appoint a replacement unless the Dem dies or resigns those are the only acceptable reasons. So as this Dem is recovering quite well there will be no rain on the Dem parade.

With the one Democrat Senator out due to illness and a Republican governor in power to replace him from his state, BUT WITH THE SENATOR RECOVERING, are the Republicans disappointed (he isn't dead). ??????!!!!???
Instead of hoping/praying for this HUMAN BEING'S recovery they have been ghoulish in discussing his mental incapacitation. Like a wolf with saliva dripping from his chops.
BTW, many Senators have served while incapacitated. Strom Thurmond was the last guy, at age 100 he could barely eat his cereal in the morning, let alone cast an informed vote.

Senators are not replaced unless they resign or die. There are several modern instances where a Senator was side-lined by illness for lengthy periods without disturbing the balance of power in the Senate.
Senator Johnson has undergone a serious operation, is recovering very well, and though he may need additional treatment, and will be side-lined for weeks, possibly months, there is no danger of the current make-up of the Senate being altered. Unless he dies.

Not at all, we still hold the house by a good majority, it is a shame though since the people have spoken and it should remain that way until the end of the term. But that is the way the laws are and the Governor has the right to appoint anybody he pleases. It will remembered next election what he has done and that is democracy at its finest. Worried no, disappointed yes.

I think both sides are holding their breath, for obvious reasons. Last report was a full recovery though, so everybody breathe...

Of course. It has already been said that they will keep him on life support until the end of his term if required so they dont lose the seat.

Well, they do seem to be more worried abut the seat than the health of the congress person.
