If you've known each other for a few years, you ought to know her well enough to be completely open. Just tell her the truth.

It is a good idea to be up front with your friend of a few years, telling simply that you have girlfriend might not cut it, Let her know that you would like to continue to be friends with her and hand out, but nothing further then that can happen because of your commitment to your girlfriend, and why. If she understand and won't take offense to it then she is a good friend if not then she is not a good friend and only wants you because she does not want anybody else. If you set a boundary with her about what you and her do as friends and what you and your girlfriend do then she will have a general idea about what she needs to do and what to expect, so she won't get you in to a cheating mode that would make your girlfriend hate your for. Let her know you don't mind hanging out and talking about general events, but anything futher then that is unacceptable, and that you and her are just friends.

I don't think that is possible. I think if you go out with her she will think there is some posiblity. You have to be careful because she clearly has feelings for you and even going "as friends" might give her the wrong idea. I would either say you can't meet or explain to her very clearly that nothing is going to happen between the two of you romatically because you have a girl friend you really care about.

You don't. If you are already feeling uncomfortable then its a bad idea. Tell her that you AND your girlfriend want to meet her for lunch, she may just not want to go after all. Her intentions with you may just be a little more than friends, it may be in the hopes of becoming more than just friends. And to hell with whatever relationships the both of you had/have. Just a thought. Don't do it. And if you must then go with your girlfriend. It is after all a lunch with friends. So why not invite your girlfriend to be friends with her too?

If you have a girlfriend it probably isn't wise to be going out on a date, of any kind, with another girl. You will be giving your friend the wrong idea (and hope), which would not be kind to anyone.
Especially if you are serious about your girlfriend.

Why would you want to meet this girl if you have a girlfriend? Maybe yall should go on a double date and get one of your friends to go with her. I mean if you just like her as a friend that shouldn't be a problem.

If you really love the girl your already having a relationship with, then you shouldn't be meeting other girls. Take your girlfriend with you. If you aren't willing to that then you have more on your mind and should break up with your girlfriend. Have respect for her and don't go out behind her back.
