Expensive? Because tuition has to cover the salaries of the professors, the maintenance of the school and its facilities, their athletic departments, etc. In other countries, the government gives more university funding, and it keeps costs down.

Go to a state school, they get state funding, and in-state tuition is a lot lower than out of state or private college tuition.

Because it is... the truth is it is an investment.

Besides paying for the running of the institution (salaries, insurance, fees, taxes, etc.) you are paying for the SOCIAL NETWORK. For example, Louisiana State University professors teach classes at Tulane University. Tulane charges A LOT more to study there... but the teachers are the SAME. Why the difference in cost? Argueably, because Tulane has more name brand recognition and will provide a more valuable networking opportunities.

That said, you can maximize your college experience and minimize the costs.

Tip #1: Goto Community College for the first two years (big universities have to fail out a number of students because they couldn't operate if they passed everyone). After you pass or get your associates, then transfer to finish the last 60 hours somewhere else. And by the way, community college is SUPER easy compared to most university programs.

Tip #2: Know what you are interested in... switching majors is expensive

Tip #3: Understand that a BS or a BA is virtually worthless in today's world on it's own. Experience counts in a big way, but to make the big bucks in a non-technical field you'll need the degree so HR weenies can promote you easily.

Save the name brand college for the Masters. If you want to make a 6 figure salary, you will probably (not always) need a graduate degree.

Tip #4: Don't go to a non-accredited university to save money. There are alot of universities that teach online and state "We are nationally accredited" but they aren't regionally accredited. This means that your degree isn't worth much.

If you want to maximize the value of your education understand this... you better leverage internships and work-study programs to get some much needed experience. Otherwise you won't get a job easily after college. This is a GLOBAL market... there are people in Canada and people in India who speak English perfectly (with US educations) and will do your job for 25%-90% less cost to an employer.

Mayb because it is more in demand. And when one passes out from these colleges they do get well-paid jobs that do make up for the expences

No offensive, but with that spelling, you won't have to worry about the experience or the expense.

Seriously, it sounds as if you are only taking into account top-tier 4-year universities. If you also include junior colleges, community colleges and 2nd-tier state colleges, a college education is very affordable in relative terms.

It's a necessary evil in our society. You want to get farther along in your chosen field, go to college and tow the line. If you've applied yourself in public school, you may be offered an academic, sports or specialty scholarship or grant.

I don't think you need worry though! You posted your question without proof reading or spell checking it! You wouldn't make it past the application for a college!

Because it's a rip off like everything else in this world (car insurance, taxes etc...). My advice don't go. I went and would probably be better off financially if I was working retail.
