The best way to get someone to listen to you is to listen to them. Ask them open-ended questions. Find out what they're happy and unhappy about. Give them a safe environment to share feedback openly. Once this is established, they're much more likely to listen to you and treat you respectfully.

Respect and trust is the key to being a good boss. Get in and help show your employees that you are willing to help to get the job done.
You have to be careful and not be their best friend so when you need to discipline it wont be so hard when you have to come down on them.
Remember to focus on the problem not on the person when you do have to call someone to the carpet.
Good Luck...

First talk to your boss. I gurantee you he does not want to deal with your problems, ask him to refer your employees to you.
Examine your own behavior and see what you can do to inspire respect in your people. Do you need to listen more? Or do you need to be more firm with them? The best bosses allow their people the freedom to do the best job they can and make you look good doing it. As long as your people do good work, you should not have to 'manage' them much and that will make things better for both of you. There is a reason they are going to your boss, is it because you are micro-managing them?

Work with your boss so they don't go over your head. Close that loop hole in the system. Your boss should simple turn them around and point them back to you.
Being a boss isn't about bossing people around and making all of the decisions yourself. You need to consider their input then make the final decision. This will help gain their respect and trust.

I am a manager for Congular Wireless and it seems as though it is our trend to hire younger, thick headed individuals who do things on their terms. You HAVE to be the boss. the phrase i use is, "There are plenty of people out there willing to do this job the way I want it done, so if you want to be non compliant, fine, go play video games in your moms basement and let the big boys go to work" The main thing is to make sure they know they are replaceable, but you got to be nice about it or no one will like you and they will rebell and you will never go anywhere that way

hmm sounds like you need to talk to your boss.
if he/she is not backing you up then they will not listen to you.
kinda like parenting,if you know mom is gonna give in you ask mom not dad or vice versa. if if momwill reverse a decision thafter dad has siad no then youwill not listen toad at a.
so you need to discuss the situation with your boss. give recent examples that have actually happened. then explain how certain things did not get done becuase the employees would not listen to you.
this should help.

well for starters you can give them reason to want to work also known as motivation there are many differnt ways to do this if you dont have much money maybe buy a scratch off and say anyone who does this and this gets the prize or something that can relate to the type of work you do over there also maybe have contests whoever does so and so gets a $5 bonus etc... these little motivate people and make them want to work the only other alternative is the not so nice way to just threaten them in terms of work off course such as if you dont do your work you will recieve a small penalty and you choose which it will be

Tell the boss over you that you would appreciate him/her upholding your decisions.
Whats the point of being in charge of people if they can just go to someone else....?

they will listen to you if they respect you, and the best way to get respect is to listen to them,,, understand them,,,,,,, an employee who feels that you hear their concerns and complaints , and that you care, and feels that you will do all you can to support them, even if you cant solve their problem,,,,,,,will be much more likely to listen to you and do as you say, even if they dont like what your saying,,,,,,,,,,

This is a tough one. Lead by example, make reasonable demands, and tell them your expectations up front before their work even begins.
