If you are talking about a secondary drive you have on the Gateway - yes. You can remove it from the Gateway and use it as a secondary drive on the Dell --- although I would erase/re-format it prior to moving it over.
If you're asking can you put the primary hard drive from the Gateway into the Dell and have it become the primary drive on the Dell -- NO!
You will need to reinstall Windows XP. You will be changing many components (CD drive, memory, floppy, CPU, video card) and those drivers will need to be reinstalled through the XP installation.

Without knowing more about both systems, I cannot say for sure. What I can say is that it is very likely. However, if you are running an operating system on the Gateway hard drive, you won't want this drive to be the primary drive on the Dell. The two systems will have different drivers and Windows may not function at all. At best, it will nickel and dime you to death for drivers. So, if all you want is the storage, it ought to work.

YES....just hook it up to some power, and IDE cable...and use it as a secondary drive. (make sure the jumpers on the back of it are set correctly...)

yes just hook it in and it should reload it unless its windows xp then you will have to reload the OS (operating system)
