Why aren't there long distance walking events, its easier and healthier to say, when you have trained well enough, which isn't too hard, to have a 24 hour walk-a-thon which believe it or not 6 marathons in length is a "cake walk" for most athletes? (if you can't tell im against the "bias" of having to run and of the distance have to run being "only" one marathon)

...Since no athletes have answered your question, I think athletes might beg to differ...Tell you what...You walk 6 marathons straight, and report back to us how you did...Nice hearing from you, cause you're gonna die if you do that...

Well, there just isn't much draw to walking that far... (I'm not saying it wouldn't be a bad thing to do, just not a lot of excitement to it - hence, you might not find many people wanting to do that)

First idea - you could run your own event or otherwise do it on your own.

Or - you could find another 24 hour event and walk it.

One that I know of is a Rogaining - They provide challenges of 6, 12, and 24 hours where you navigate at your own pace. This is an offshoot of Orienteering. (see links below)

So all you have to do is combine your walking with a map and the need to reach certain "control points", and you're all set.

Now - some of the competitors will be going at a faster pace, but it doesn't matter. You can find orienteering clubs around the world, and search for rogaine events near where you live. You can start with a 6 hour event and build up as you are able.

Good luck;-)
