From our first date, my wife always bossed me around and pretty much told me what to do. Lately, it has gotten worse. She micromanages my entire life, from what I wear to the office to how to please her in bed. And when I screw up during loving, she yells at me and shuts it down. She also hits me often. Things have actually gotten worse over the past few months. She often "shooshes" me or tells me to "shut my trap." Last night, we were out to dinner with my parents and brother and she told me to shut the "F" up and jabbed me with her fingers in the throat - IN FRONT OF EVERY ONE. I later told her, near tears, how her actions were immasculating. Her response: "well, that's because you are not a real man . . ." I love her, and don't want to lose her. I feel the only way to save our maraige is to prove my manhood. I actually think she will respect me more if I strike her back next time. Like a swift donkey punch to the neck. Is this insane? Appropriate?

You wife is a Jerk and she doesn't respect you. It's wrong of her to hit you and humiliate you, especially in front of your family. Don't fight ignorance with ignorance. If you really love her and you want to save this marriage get counseling because you're already heading down a destructive path which is not going to get better on it own.

It is never OK to hit a woman. Please don't You don't need to prove your masculinity. If she treats you like this again(and she will from what you have said) Tell her in ear shot of your family or whoever you are with, in a very firm stern tone and slightly raised voice but not shouting(that would reveal loss of control) That she may not speak to you that way again and if she is violent to you again that you are going to call the police.
Then I suggest you walk away and take time for you.
Your wife is being abusive and you do not have to put up with it is cruel. I recommend a book called boundaries by Dr.Henry Cloud and Dr John Townsend. You will find it on Amazon.com and it is very good at teaching how to implement boundaries in our relationships (not just marriage) it focuses on abusive marriages too.
I am so sorry that you have been going through this and it is time to put an end to it. However there is a right way and a wrong way. Responding to an abuser with abuse just makes you an abuser too. I hope this helps you

Stand up and be a man. If she hits you clap her back. As I always say. if a woman wants to act like a man then she must be prepared to take it like a man. You are going to find it difficult to change the way things are at this late stage. You should have put a stop to it, from the first time she insulted you. But go for it, you will feel better about yourself, when you stand up for yourself.

If you do this you will go to jail. Leave her now as she is not a person to have children with or be with.

She is right about one thing though. You are not a real man as no real man would tolerate this.

Go to counseling and find yourself, but leave her.

btw what you described is not a donkey punch.................

No dont punch her . Slap her with an open hand.
Better yet warn her in advance that if she treats you like that
again in public, you are going to grab her pull her pants down
and spank her in public.. I would enjoy going to jail for you..

Only if she's a feminist! Then it's not abuse, but equal treatment.
