this is something that I have been wondering about for a while... how do you get onto sites such as myspace or other personal's sites when the url is blocked.... any good sites that let you get past the fire wall, or is there a way to unblock them?

The sites are blocked for a reason. The school has the right to block any URL it finds unsafe or offensive. Do not try to circumvent this protection or you can find yourself at home riding out a suspension or you could even be expelled.

Proxy Server can do it, if it's not blocked.
I have the same problem at work.

go google and type proxy servers or just go to hidemyass.com
