Frequent urination is normal in the first trimester. Your uterus is growing and this presses on your bladder. Also, the hormone hCG is increasing the blood flow to your pelvic area and your kidneys. As your kidneys adjust to the increased waste, they get better at their job and your body is going to rid itself of waste more quickly. Yes, drinking adequate water is important in pregnancy and for subsequent breast feeding. The growing baby does not utilize the water you drink directly. You need to keep hydrated to aid in food digestion which also aids in elimination (constipation is common in pregnancy. Keeping hydrated also helps prevent kidney/bladder infections. Frequent urination usually subsides in your second trimester, but returns near the end of your third trimester as your baby gets larger and drops lower into the pelvic area. Space is at a premium and your bladder is again being pushed on.

chrsban is partially right - the growing uterus does put pressure on the bladder in early pregnancy, then it lifts out of the pelvis in mid-pregnancy so the urge to urinate is not so strong until again in later pregnancy.
However, being thirsty all the time when pregnant *is* normal. It is probably a sign that you need to drink more water, lol! Some suggest 1/2 to 1 gallon a day (that sounds like a lot to me, though). Not only does your body need water *and salt* to make amniotic fluid, but your blood volume increases by 50% to help nourish the baby.

Peeing alot does have to do with early pregnancy because of a rise in hormones...that's what I've been told anyway...and yes you are right...you would want to drink more water to stay hydrated no matter what stage of pregnancy you are in...also- drinking lots of water can help keep you from getting constipated and stuff like that...but also- it's very important to drink lots of water at the end of your pregnancy too because dehydration can kick you into early labor...or so I hear...

Oh it does have to do with early pregnancy, the hormones will definitely make you pee more, and then you need more water, repeat ad nauseum.
In later pregnancy, the weight of the baby will push on your bladder and do it's business, but early pregnancy has the same symptom, if different cause.

Frequent urination is common in early pregnancy. You are taking in more fluids because during pregnancy you get dehydrated faster and also just because the baby is small does not mean that your uterus is growing and pushing your bladder, it is doing that in early pregnancy. Also it tapers off in the middle of your pregnancy because your bladder gets used to the added pressure and does not come back till later pregnancy when the baby is kicking at the bladder and losing space as it grows.

All the hormones running through your body causes you to frequently pee in the early stages of pregnancy. NOT the baby pushing on your bladder. You are right, that doesn't happen until the baby is bigger.
Yes, you do want to drink more water. Your body (and baby) requires it.

I ran to the bathroom every five minutes in the early stages of pregnancy! Then it subsided for a few weeks until he got large enough to push on my bladder. Maybe it has something to do with the large amount of water you drink because you are increasing your blood volume tremendously in the first few weeks. I don't know...good question.

fequent urination has a lot to do with early pregnancy cause your uterus is groing and pressing on your bladder. In your second tri mester the peeing slows because your uterus is moving up and releases some of the pressure but it comes back in the last few months. Being thirsty though has nothing to do with being preggo, it is a sign though of being diabetic.

hi, I in elementary words used tap water, and all of my toddlers are nice...and somewhat brilliant. toddler water is purified water with extra flouride. In some parts, the position the water is unfourinated, or only yucky...you'll comprehend in case you stay in this kind of places. human beings favor to purchase bottled water...and bottled toddler water. although, the eating water/tap water isn't volatile for your toddler. that is in elementary words a remember of non-public preferance. besides, you should imagine: Bottled water has in elementary words been round for 15 years or so. And, you, your self, probably drank water straight away out of the tap. good luck!

Also just having the pregnancy hormone in your bloodstream makes you have to pee a lot.
