Our understanding of gravity is still somewhat limited....but the best explanation is Einstein's...it originates from a mass displacing the properties of the space and time that it's located in...rate of displacement is coorelates with the amount of the object's mass. It's a bit like putting a ball ontop of a soft mattress...the mass will curve the 2 dimensional surface of the matress into a 3rd dimension...an implosion. That's what a mass does to space and time, only it's a curve from a 3rd dimension into a 4th dimension. The curve of the energy field causes the phenomenon of gravity.

gravitational force is a physical property.
it exists in conditions that permit.
a good gravity experiment to try is to fill a pail halfway with water and swing the pail over your hand and around in a circle. when the pail is completely upside down, the water does not fall out.
