There are some really good henna stencils at www.hennasooq.com in the shop section

For beginner's they are easy to use and stick right on, and can be used over again.

Why use stencils? The best henna designs are done freehand. I use small pastry bag or a heavy sandwich bag (the cheap kind rip too easily) with a tiny hole cut in the corner. I find most of my inspiration online, but a friend of mind found a book of traditional designs for hands & feet at an Indian grocery store in town. We use that book a lot, too.

Cheers!

Try searching Henna Designs on yahoo image search. There are lots of great images there you can use for referance. If you are a beginner then you may want to try sketching your design out on your body with a artists charcoal pencil (4 for 2 bucks walmart) Then go over it with your henna.
