You probably have a program that requires A LOT of ram, or you have too much crap opened. Check your processes, see what's taking up most memory. Sort it by Current and/or Max memory usage.

What is pf? I'm guessing your processor.

Hold down the keys Ctrl Alt Del and click on Task Manager. You can then click the Processes tab and see what is consuming what. End the offending process.

Better sluething can be done with Mark Russinovich's Process Explorer

Process Explorer shows you information about which handles and DLLs processes have opened or loaded. The display consists of two sub-windows. The top always shows a list of the currently active processes, including the names of their owning accounts, whereas the information displayed in the bottom window depends on the mode that it is in. The unique capabilities make it useful for tracking down DLL-version problems or handle leaks, and provide insight into the way Windows and applications work.

Regarding RAM :: Couldn't live without Free Ram Pro:

FreeRAM XP Pro is the program for you. Truly freeware, it gives you complete access to all its features at no cost. You can either have the program automatically optimize your system, or you can specify how much memory you'd like to free up. Advanced tray support, automatic memory monitoring and optimization, system-metric monitors, and real-time memory information are just a few of the features that make this program attractive and useful. You also can apply different sounds to different actions. It's doubtful you'll find a memory optimizer easier to use than FreeRAM XP, making it a smart pick for anyone who's ever been frustrated by a poky PC.

And your point is? Sounds normal to me. It doesn't depend on how much your running its what your running. If you have a lot of software and they are all set to start up with Windows they are all having fun playing pool in the background while you run your software. Get a start up manager from any freeware .com and see what programs load with windows and shut down the stuff you don't need like Quicktime. Real Player, Win zip, winzar, powerDVD, etc. These programs aren't needed until you need them no need for them to start with Windows.
