Do people not understand that a president has to do something illegal (like lie in front of Congress)to be impeached?

I read the first one and immediately closed the page. It is hard to declare an illegal war if CONGRESS VOTES FOR IT!!!

IDIOTS!

The new leader of the House of Representatives, where articles of impeachment would be introduced, has stated that it would not be a good idea. It would be a distraction from solving problems of the country. The Democrats need to establish a good legislative record before 2008 and they only have next year to do it before the Presidential politicking (and criticism) kicks in.

I agree with the House Speaker.

P.S. Many of the thoughts expressed in the petition are not LEGAL arguments--some are just opinion. Particularly the Hurricane Katrina situation and the supposition of election dishonesty/fraud.

Much blame for the failure of the levees goes to the shoddy construction of the levees by Louisiana contractors, and lack of planning for the surge going into Lake Pontrechain (sp).Would there be a legal basis for the claim that the elections of 2000-2006 were actually tampered with ? These elections were certified by the Secretaries of State within the country, and the election of 2000 was determined by a US Supreme Court decision, which is the highest court in the land. There were no lawsuits of election fraud brought forth in Ohio in 2004--just claims of fraud. I agree that the efforts to influence the election were dishonest and unethical, but unless there is EVIDENCE to prove it, it doesn't hold water in impeachment (unlawful conduct).

BTW I am a Democrat.

Impeachment is a criminal technique. No quantity of petitions gets it to take place. A sitting President would desire to dedicate against the regulation (a real crime that a customary guy or woman could additionally dedicate and be despatched to reformatory for, like oh possibly obsrtruction of justice and perjury like Clinton) A grand jury needs to indict the President, the homestead needs to arrainge him, then the trial carried out by ability of the Senate is the actual "impeachment".

sure they'll get the 37000 votes but that few out of a country with millons of people isn't enough to do anything and Bush hasn't done anything illegal Congress passed the vote to go to war.

and this late in his term whats the point anyway to get cheney as president for afew months remember impeachment doesn't happen over night it takes months for those trials and he only has 2 years left

Instead of getting false information about getting Bush impeached why not help a democrat start campaigning with alot of sexist and racist people in the country on both sides and with who the front runners for the democratic party are they could have big problems getting elected over a rich white Republican regardless of who it is

JEB BUSH in 2008 just kidding he'll run next election

Doubtful, and even if they do, so what?

The President has done nothing illegal, so therefore is not impeachable. When he commits a crime, then you may have a point.

The Dems wanting to impeach Bush are ridiculous. They need to put aside partisian politics and do their jobs so that this country can get on track. Bickering, fighting, and slanderous activity does NOTHING to help us.

I really don't see the point in trying to get him impeached this late in his last term. It would be a statement at best. No true benefit could come out of it at this stage.

I thought about signing it but then I realized that signing it is basically like telling anybody that reads it that I'm not smart enough to understand how impeachment works.

Keep dreaming libs.
