I don't want to just write him a note and stick it under the tree. Any ideas for something creative, but relatively easy?

Buy him a CD of French cafe music and put the note inside the case.
Or - let him figure it out by giving him a succession of gifts with a French theme - French CD, bottle of French wine, gift certificate for French fries, picture of Paris Hilton (well, maybe not), a beret, box of frozen French toast.

If you want to do something really simple, find a photo or drawing of the Eiffel Tower, download it and print off a homemade greeting card with the tower on the front. There might even be an Eiffel Tower in the standard clip art that comes with Word.

You could also write your message in French. (and if you don't know French, just use a translation website.)

If you have photo shop, you can down load some pictures of Paris in the spring, put your picture into it with a silouette of him and the dates of travel. This could be put into a story book with the pictures being the second to last page and a facsimile of airline tickets with his and your names on them or a copy of the travel itinerary for the last page.

You could start a scrap book with some travel brochers or get a travel book of Paris. Thats what my parents did when we were going to Disney.
