I used to suffer from astigmatism, which made reading or watching TV for longer than half an hour at a time quite impossible, because I couldn't focus without getting a mighty headache. Driving, especially at night, also became a problem, so I ended up wearing glasses all the time, instead of just 'occasionally', as my optician suggested.
As it happened, a friend then recommended book of facial exercises by Carol Maggio, which promised all the usual benefits of regular exercising any part of body: toning, firming and improved circulation in the area.
Luckily for me, it also meant that my eye muscles got stronger, which in turn eliminated further need to wear glasses.
Of course, this is just my experience, so I can't say that taking up facial exercises would do the same for you - but, if nothing else, it would definitely take some years off your appearance, and give you the cheek-bones to die for!
If you do decide to go with any of the facial exercise programmes, I would strongly recommend you get yourself a DVD, instead of a book, as it's far less fiddly, and you get to check that you are doing it correctly.
Just one more thing: most of those exercises are not very attractive to look at, so make sure you are safely tucked away before you start, as not to scare the little children...:)
Good luck.

Yogis and Taoists and Chi Kung masters have developed exercises to strengthen the muscles.

Here are some good references:
The Great Tao - Dr. Stephen Chang
The Eyes Have It: A Self-Help Manual for Better Vision by Chaney, Earlyne
Earlyne details the methodology of Dr. William Bates in the book, and mentions his 3 secrets:
central fixation, blinking, and shifting.
In the book, she also references some great yoga eye exercises.
Additionally there are some great acupressure points around the eye region that can be massaged and energized on a regular basis.
One of my friends, James, is a TuiNa therapist, and he improved his eyesight from almost legally blind, to better than 1970's and has eye doctor documentation to prove it. He used Dr. Stephen Chang's system and his Forgotten Foods (herbal remedies).

Best of luck!

I believe you should consider the Bates Metho. You can teach yourself it but it's easier to find a local teacher. A search on line will help with this - I've known a number of people who've had great success with this natural method. I was glad of your question as my eyesight has deteriorated a lot in the last year - since I was prescribed glasses & I think I will look it up too. Good luck - I understand it's brilliant!

No. It's impossible. You can get a lot of Vitamin A, but your eyesight will never improve. Nothing will improve it. Once you need glasses, you always will.

Take breaks from reading, look away and focus on a distant object.

Get a filter for your screen and dont spend too long glued to the PC or TV.

Eat healthily in general, keep up with the vitamins and minerals.

Keep your eyes clean, wash them and do let anything harmful get in them.

Ensure your work space has correct light seetings. Put the light behind you and shining from behind you. Dont shine the light directly onto sheet or screen and keep glare reflections off.

Dont stare at the sun or any other bright object.

Just simple things.

Plenty of exercise and healthy diet with lots of vitamins. I read once that the hunter gatherer diet improves eyesight dramatically but haven't tried it!
