While both characters acquired their superpowers as a result of radiation exposure, Spiderman's are non-human in origin and are based on those of the irradiated spider that bit him. Daredevil's abilities are heightened human senses that resulted from the combination of his blinding and accidental radiation exposure.

In addition, while both figures vigilantism are the results of the loss of a father-figure to violent crime and the desire for revenge, the underlying ethos driving each is different. In the case of Spiderman, the loss of his Uncle Ben is because of his petty selfishness and indifference in deterring a crime when he had the opportunity. Spiderman's life of crime-fighting is thus a form of penance for his sin.

Daredevil's ethos, on the other hand, is a direct result of the failure of the courts to successfully convict his father's killers. Daredevil thus takes matters into his own hands to correct the failures and injustices of society.

As is the case for most superheroes, both characters' real life identities are in stark contrast to their alter egos. However, there are subtle differences and similarities (aside from the obvious nerd and handicap stereotypes).

Spiderman's occupation as a photojournalist places him in the position of an unbiased observer of events. That is, someone that doesn't get involved. Daredevil's, on the other hand, is that of a lawyer and a participant in the judicial system that failed him and gave birth to his alter ego. Ironically, these are roles that sent them to their fates as crime-fighters.

As to which character is "better," my personal favorite is Spidey.

P.S. You may get more answers if this question wasn't filed under "horoscopes". Call me crazy....

Well there are obvious reasons why they are different
1. Spider-man was mutated be a spider bite, while daredevil was blinded by toxins.
2. Spider-man has superhuman strength (spider-strength), Abnormal flexibility, can stick to walls, and has Spider sense
Daredevil is a master in most Taijutus (karate) and has superhuman hearing
3. Spider-man is super-smart in the sciences, while Daredevil is a lawyer.
In the end the both have their strength and weaknesses but Spider-man would probably kick daredevils *** unless it got into a close-quarters fight then it would be the other way around.
