That happens all the time with me, when I play Far cry, or any other game sometimes it says the disc is dirty and an error message comes up, but I know that there are no scratches/dirt because I just bought the game and I handle them all with care, I think it has something to do with the laser reader inside the console.

There is probably something on the disc, dirt or scratches. Try to clean the disc with warm water and a small amount of dish detergent and of course dry it well with a lint free cloth, this may help. If you have the license and receipt, it can be replaces for a few $.

the SAME thing happens to me and my xbox, except with my nba 2k7, not gears of war.
let me ask u this, do u ever put in the game and have a white screen with black writing that says "to play this disc put it in a xbox 360 console"?? (or something like that).
im calling technical support tomorrow to try to figure it all out.

I've had that happen also a few times, but it really wasn't a problem, maybe because i was playing on Live all night.
