I would rather read what someone liked abt a movie or book etc and then make my judgment on whether I think I might like the same thing...

Because some critics think it's their job to be "critical". You may not remember Rex Reed, but he became famous for his nasty reviews.

The same can be said of Simon Cowell, I suppose. If he were nicer, would he be as famous?

sheeple people. is why. people wont to be lead around. they wont to be told what others think. so they can go along with them.and theres many people who's nasty and like other nasty people and there comments. people who get a job commenting on others works know that people or like that so thats what they put out. Because they are lot of poor quality books, movies, restaurants, etc. out there, and those who try to make profits with poor quality goods, deserve wht wrath of critics.

Good question. Because in our day and age, 'Nasty' sells... it's what people respond to, it gets your attention.
