I can't help with the ion, but I can say that I have driven only saturns for 10 years. They are awesome and run forever. My brother now drives the saturn I bought in 1995, and it has 250K miles and still runs like a champ.

I'd recommend the Ion. I'd also check out it's GM twins the Pontiac Sunfire and the Chevy Cobalt.

I'd also check out the Honda Civic and the Mazda 3.

But I'm an old guy and I'd be looking at things like safety features, reliability ratings, creature comforts, and gas mileage as opposed to horse power and 1/4 mile speeds and times. Those things won't help out my insurance costs at all.

At any rate, you can check out stats and standard features of these and other vehicles at edmunds.com although 1/4 mile times may not be available. Good luck.

they're ok I had a saturn than ran super for a hundred and fifty,000 miles then mandatory a clean engine, yet i became using like a teenager, because of the fact i became one i think of the engine areas are ok, I surely have observed the interior areas ruin, or come aside in simple terms before another autos, yet once you're taking stable care of it i'm advantageous it extremely is going to be sturdy for it sluggish mine had super gas mileage, I crammed it with gas one time and it ran till ultimately i became totalled by a under the effect of alcohol driving force this guy became smashed and so became my motor vehicle I omit my little Saturn

If you get the ION, you'll want it to be the red line version of it (turbo'ed).
