OK - My mom's recipe for home made fruitcake from scratch. Not that yucky gummy sleezy thing generally associated with a fruitcake.
Get out your cookbook and make a spiced applesauce cake from scratch and then add your favorite good candied fruits and canned fruit like marischino cherries, raisins, nuts, etc. Cook at 275 degrees for about two hours or until a broomstraw comes out clean in numerous locations. Do not do the 350 or 375 cook temperature or edges will burn bad before center is done.

We usually have turkey and fixings that go with it. But being Italian, there is always a pasta dish, be it baked ziti, lasagna, manicotti or ravioli. Something cheesy and fattening!! I always look for the pasta dish.
