Mourinho actually admitted that it was a mistake to let Tiago go. Essien was stronger and has more pace, but Tiago is more creative and elegant. I think it worked out in the end - Tiago's artistic abilities wouldn't make much impact in the Premiership (Arsenal's artistry only works when they play in Europe), but he fits like a glove in Lyon's free-flowing, attack based side.

He's come a long way, and he's improving every year. He's already scored more goals in two months than he did all last year. I wouldn't be surprised if another club tried to make an offer for him this summer.

The one thing I think Tiago needs to improve on is that he's more timid when he plays for the national team. For some reason, when he's on the field for Portugal, he doesn't contribute to the attack much, and he's content to support the other midfielders. He needs to play more competitively if he wants to remain competitive. Until Maniche, Deco, and Costinha retire, he's still a bench player - unless he impresses Scolari.

I think Tiago is one of the players in the Lyons squad who are vital to their success. He's a more defensive sort of midfielder and is a very good player in that position. His role in the Lyon side allows the more creative players like Juninho, Malouda, Kallstrom, Wiltord and Govou to push up forward and create massive problems for every team they face.

he is very good....almost the same player like juninho...except that juniho is more creative and he is more defensive...in fact i would say chealsea were stupid in selling him for that kind of price...he should worth at least 7 to 10 million!
