I am not against those that disagree with the lifestyle of homosexuals. I don't care what the majority's opinion is. I just don't understand WHAT you base your "righteous opinions" on and how you deliver them. I'm sure others will agree with me when I say it's not your opinion. It's how you say it. It's how you think for the simple fact that I'm gay that my lifestyle is beneath yours. It's how you feel about it. I am an individual who volunteers, loves kids, helps out my family tremendously, hold no prejudices whatsover, very openminded(about all things).... and you're going to come "preaching" to me when YOU sin more than I do. YOU are going to come JUDGING me when you are BUT a man. When did God give you this right to be so self-righteous?? I disagree with no one's opinion.... they're 'facts' yes... they're opinion... NO. If I come up here and post a respectful question and you come with some upturned nose type of answer... that's uncalled for....

You're not better than anyone. and No one is better than you. I hold no hate or misconceptions against anyone. I don't feel a need to limit anyone's lifestyle... heck I don't even have to COMMENT on someone's lifestyle whether straight or not. I do believe in God people(hmm)... but I am NOT religious. I know that in my heart I hold no hate for the world or it's ignorance. All I'm saying is that tolerance and indifference can go a looong way.
OK. I'm done now! =) Bye Yahoo Answers!

As far as incest goes...
If they are adults.... then that's them. They both agree to do it. They're not harming anyone.
but if it's an ADULT molesting their own child(molestation, abuse, rape)...
then yes... this grown ace person is HARMING a child.
I'm not harming anyone buddy! =)

You sound like a good person, really. But your touting so of what you do good in the world, coulld be seen by some as a little holier than thou. Really. No offense is intended to you though. Just think about it.
Now, I do agree that many people love to stand in judgment of others lives, habits and lifestyles without ever looking at their own flaws or in their own backyard. It is frustrating for us to see those who seem to really always criticize others so much. The fact is we all do it some, no matter how hard we try not to. I do think sometimes these people have a very legalistic view of whatever faith they hold. Example, they may focus more on the sin than the sinner. A girl gets pregnant. The mistake has already happended, so that is when people should look to what can be done to help the situation and not lambast the error or keep harping on it. The kid already knows she made a mistake, now we need to help make the best of it.
Many more examples could be given.
It is not my job as a clergyman to tell for instance, a gay person that he cannot come into my church or even serve as a leader. All churches are filled with people who are flawed. Let me say that I do not personally think being gay is something that a person can help nor do I thin it is a sin to love someone, no matter gender.
But even if I did, I am only supposed to address congrgants needs, not stand in judgment of them.
We should all avoid being self righeous. The truth is, still the best way to lead is by the living the best life you know how and perhaps others will see your well taken point.
Just don't fall into the trap of feeling you are superior to those who judge and are legalistic, because then you are judging to.
We all hold prejudices though, if for no other fact, we must make our own judgments as to the values and bliefs we hold. For instance it could be said that you are prejudiced against the group of self righteous. Just something to think about.
You keep trying to live your life well and you'll do fine. Though it's ahrd, try not to let the judgers, etc upset you so much. If you allow them to do that, they win!
God Bless!

No, because persons who do not believe in God can exercise self-control in their lives. Self-control can be a moral discipline and is not exclusive to believers. Take, as an example, exercising self-control with regard to diet - saying "no" to a cream cake because you need to reduce cholesterol levels. I did that today, while out food shopping - but I didn't attribute it to the Holy Spirit! However, for the believer who has been born-again and is indwelt by the Holy Spirit, then it is the work of God in the life of the believer to produce fruits such as self-control, especially with regard to overcoming the sinful nature (Galatians 5:22-23). EDIT @ God's Canvas - hey, no problem! That sometimes happens to me, too. Just glad we can agree and share our views.

If someone you know was engaged in incest, yould you have an opinion about that? And would your opinion...to their ears, sound like self-righteousness, or judgementalism?
You see, there's nothing objectively wrong with incest. Not as long as there's birth control available. The fact that it remains wrong in the minds of almost everyone is, at the heart of it, a moral matter.
So, we can have moral views that apply to the behaviors of others, and that we feel need to be dominant in society. Does that mean that homosexuals or people engaging in incest are victims of a self-righteous, judgemental society? From their perspective, I'm sure they are. But there's a larger consideration than their sensitivities, desires and justifications.

Chill! You're not going to give a one of the trolls any pause for thought by having a rant. Rise above any narrow-minded comment. let your superiority be reflected in your own nonchalance.
You're certainly only superior to the inferior riff-raff that post the garbage on here and to other categories.

It's usually what conservatives are called by liberals when they disagree with them on issues. Liberals are very tolerant as long as you agree with them.

in their own, tiny, closed minds, they think they ARE superior to us. I'd really love to know what church they belong to, because I never learned anything in church/Sunday school about it being OK to hate....to assume the role of God and pass judgment on others. to preach intolerance. I learned that God created and loves us all! not that God loves us only if we're Christian, heterosexual and white! all of my friends, gay/lesbian and straight are Christians, and not one of them act anything like this. they are "true" loving, people...not the "fake" Christians who "use" religion to justify their being bigots. and, I agree that everyone has a right to their own opinion....right or wrong as they might seem. it's when they base their opinions on lies, generalizations, stereotypes and assumptions that has me confused. why would a (supposedly) educated adult not want to learn facts, learn the truth, actually get to know people before passing blanket judgment? believe what you want, but when you verbally (and even physically) harass people and try to shove your beliefs down their throats is where you are totally wrong, people!
