Hi, I'm moving to the other side of the world in march to persue my career, there is no real film industry where I am right now and moving is the best option. But it means leaving my friends and family and I'm dreading it. I daren't tell my friends that I'm going and it's really getting me down. The few people I have told have been behind me and said it's the best thing for me and I know it is, but it's so hard :( Advice?

Just like the rest have said....your family and friends will miss you, as you will miss them as well. I am sure they will all be supportive of your decision in making the move to pursue your career, who wouldn't. If you don't ever try than you will never know the outcome.....and you could make it big, wouldn't that be quite the reward. So, I wish you much like in the film industry, safe travels and supportive people behind you. Just always remember, you will have your family and friends and a place to go home to if it doesn't work out........but, hopefully it will! Good luck to you!

They will miss you, of course, but in this situation you will learn who your true friends are! Besides, are your friends going to give you the career you want? If moving is the best option then go for it!! Friends won't always be there. They come and go! Give it a shot, and you will honestly find out who your REAL friends are. Believe me. I moved across the country to be with my Marine Husband, and I lost a lot of so called friends. The experience will be good for you!! Trust me!

You gotta do what you gotta do. Your friends and family will miss you, but will always be there for you. Nothing says you can't come back and visit or just come back. But follow your dreams, good luck, God Bless, and like l said, your friends and family will always be there for you. Sometimes in life you have to make choices that might not seem fair or right at the time, but until you make that choice, you will never know.

You gotta do what is right for you and NOONE else. So if moving to pursue your career is right, then go for it. Of coarse its going to be hard to leave friends and family behind, but the hardship will be worth it in the end. Good luck to you!

Okay, I'm in the military so I'm always leaving people I'm close to and its hard. Keep in touch, email them , write them , or call them. It will be hard but if they're your real friends they will support you. And think of the new friends you can meet, not to replace your old ones but to enhance your life. Good Luck.

You need to do whats best for you. Don't worry about your friends. Even though you will. Maybe there will be a greater out come where your going. Just look on the bright side maybe thats just what god wants you to do.

I was scared TO DEATH when I had to move from the US to Thailand, but it worked out in my mind once I got there. If there are people you can't tell for whatever reason, email them once you arrive and send handwritten postcard and small packages whenever you can. Eventually my friends and family came around to support me, and yours should to. Extra good luck on your move! It's brave and well worth it once you get there.

They'll miss you. They won't want you to go. They'll understand. they'll support you. I was in their position. My best friend moved to LA to persue film. Did I want him to go? No. Did I understand? Yes. They will too.

Also, it probably won't be just a year.
