Yesterday I had sound, now I don't. It says I have no audio devices connected to my computer. It is not saying there is a problem with my sound card.
I have tried 2 different sets of speakers and no joy. What could be causing this? Could a virus have caused this as I had one yesterday but got rid of it.

Thankyou for everyone who suggested reinstalling the drivers I now have sound again!
Guess that virus was more destructive than I realised. But why would it want to wreck my sound drivers?

Reinstall your audio driver from the manufacturer cd. If you dont have a cd then go to the manufacturer's website and download the driver from their. If you don't know your sound card, download a software to detect it.
If it still gives you problems have your sound card checked.

If the sound problems occur intermittently, there could be a interrupt conflict problem. Uninstall the audio and sound drivers and restart the computer. The computer will automatically reinstall the required drivers and the problem will be resolved. For more information you can check the following site: http://fixit.in/sound.html I find the information givenin the site is more useful

The virus or removing it could have caused it.
Right click my computer, go to properties, click the hardware tab, click device manager button.
Look for any Yellow ? marks those mean you are missing drivers, which you can download from the manufactorer's website.
If you see a Red circle with an X through it, enable that device by right clicking it and choosing enable.

Try going into your audio devices control panel and look for errors there.
click on start then go to control panel then click sounds and audio devices.
check the advanced buttons to see if something is muted...
I hope this helps you out.. =)

Have you got headphones attached to the computer? Removing the wire sometimes helps.
Else it could be the settings.
