Happiness is a state of mind. It is not important at all. You can be entirely important and/or successful without being happy whatsoever.
Money is a tool used to facilitate the exchange of goods and services between people. Money although not necessary is a very important tool today.
Imagine this scenario...I am unhappy because I am in love and the object of my love wants me to drive her to California but I have no car. If I had money, I could buy the car and everyone would be happy. If I had no money but a friend (or parent) with a car, I could borrow the car and again we would be happy. If I was crafty, I could get credit (say a credit card) buy a used car at a good price, drive to California, then clean and fix up the car and sell it for more than I paid for it to pay off the credit debt and pocket the extra money. In this case, I would be making myself happy, driving my love to California and making some money in the process.
So you don't need money to get happiness. You don't need happiness. The Buddha says you don't need anything...the absence of desire (for happiness or money) is the key to enlightenment.
Lastly, should you desire money or happiness you can have both. Typically people work to make money, so find a job. And happiness is a state of mind that comes from within so brighten your own perspective.

I also think both. Right now I am attending school in Chicago and it's very expensive. I am so stressed out over paying for the expensive train rides and tuition. I am happy to be here, I love this school, but if I had more money, it would be a lot easier. Happiness is so important, especially in this lifetime with all these things going on, war, poverty, ect., it kills me sometimes, always take time out to laugh or listen to a good joke. Believe me, there are plenty on the internet. I hope you find an answer that best suits you. Good Luck!

Happiness is more important, because ultimately from money you try to buy happiness in some form anyway, like going out, do shopping, movie and any other materialist thing you always wanted with you. So ultimate achievement anyone wants in his life is happiness. It might be through money but not always. It all depends on what thing make you feel happy. If it is some materialist thing that make you happy, you need money for that, but if you want life long happiness you need to look somewhere else that is not materailistic.

If you are happy..more money will make you happier. If you are sad more money will make you sadder.
Of course, by the above statement I am assuming that you already have money to meet your basic necessities. Naturally you would love money if you didn't have money to buy food, clothing, shelter, education and health care. But beyond a certain point, I think the yearning for money loses its charm. At the end of the day I'd want to sleep with a smile on my face, not necessarily with a million dollar bank balance (though it would be nice to have one..lol).

with money you will be happy... why?
let me explain it to you:
let say you are very sick and the treatment cost a lot of money, would you be happy if you have the money?... yes
or when you see in the news a lot of kids and people with needs (food, clothes, and stuff) wouldn't be great to be able to help those souls. I mean yes Don't you think?

Happiness is definitely high on the list. Money can be a distraction, even though necessary. Too much money can be as bad as too little.

Happiness definitely...Money cannot buy happiness....!!
You only need to look at the many rich people around you to see how money works...Look at the rich business people's wives..They may have plenty of money...but do they enjoy the company of their husbands?? NO..becoz the men are too busy working..So what is the use of having all that money if you are not happy??!!!

There is an old saying that money can't buy happiness. I do however, believe that it can make a huge downpayment. I don't care what anybody says, it is hard to be happy when you are broke.
