Our topic next term is animals and we would like someone to come into school to show the children some wildlife or pets, so that they can handle them and hear about their care, habitat and natural living enviornment, We are an inner city school and the children have a very limited experience of animals beyond dogs and cats. This would really help them.

have you tried the City Farm in St Anns?
it is a community based thing and has dionkeys, sheep and goats etc, they might help. just google it

follow the link and post the question - it's a site about chinchillas with members all over the country - many have more animals than chinchillas
