Archy Bunker, in his modesty, called them "chicken chests which is really what they are. The "breast", when speaking of birds, is another term for the chest area. The breast of any mammal does contain nipples. Birds cannot have mammary glands and do not feed their young breast milk. The term " pigeon milk" is used to describe the regurgitated food that a mother bird such as a dove feeds her babies. Bats, even though they can fly, are mammals.

Chickens do not have "breasts" in the same sense that mammals do, that is, they do not have milk-producing glands. "Breast" in this case simply means the chest region. What we eat is simply the muscles of the chest (breast) region, roughly comparable to the "breast" of a man, but not of a woman. Remember, one of the pieces of armor worn by knights was the "breastplate".

Well why do men have nipples? We don't need them. Maybe we should give then to the chickens.

Baby chickens have a yoke sac in their shell that feeds them till they hatch then they eat regular food. The mother does not have to feed them.
