NUmerator = tan x + sec x -1
= sin x/cos x + 1/cos x - 1
= (sin x + 1)/cos x -1

denominator = (sin x -1)/cos x +1

multiply both by cos x

numerator = sin x +1 - cos x
= 2 sin x/2 cos x/2 + 2 sin^ x/2

denominator = 2 sin x/2 cos x/2 - 2 sin ^2 x/2

devide

number = (cos x/2 + sin x/2)/(cos x/2 - sin x/2)

= (cos x/2 + sin x/2)^2/(cos^2 x/2- sin ^2 x/2)
= (cos^2x/2+ sin^2 x/2 + 2 cos x/2 sin x/2)/(cos x)
= (1+ sin x)/ cos x

It appears the end of your problem got cut off. You probably need to put some spaces in there so that doesn't happen.
