we need more information. is he having sex forty times a week or never. just because someone is married doesn't mean they ever get laid. it could also be a huge hassel to get the wife to agree to sex. she may have a million headaches or other excuses. the couple could have an incompatible work schedule.
also, what's wrong with doing something by yourself. the spouse doesn't need to be hanging over you every second of every day in every activity. Imagine if we treated masturbation like scratching an itch. when you are single you scratch all your own itches. when you get married MAYBE someone will scratch your back. but wouldn't it seem silly to not scratch your back for TWO WEEKS waiting for your spouse to have the time or the inclination?
in itself, jerking off a few times a week is cool. it's not the same thing as sexual intercourse. it doesn't take three hours. after five minutes you are good to go.

People masturbate when they feel the need to release sexual energy and when that someone else isn't present. No it's not normal because several times a week would show that either you're not being intimate with your wife or that you are not attracted to her enough.

I have been married for 6 yrs, I get sex not as much as I need it, about 4 times a week on average, I masterbate at least once everyday, sometimes twice, and get head less than once a month....I give oral to my wife about 3 times a week....

There is nothing wrong with you masturbating. In fact it is good for your prostate health. Your wife may even like to watch you do this. Have you talked about it with her? Communication is very important, but don't feel quilty if you feel the need to masturbate.
