and sometimes not purple? I don't watch that show but when I'm flipping channels, I noticed.

She war originally purple but due to a space time continuum mix-up she trade with a future version of herself. apparently their kind goes through a variety of different shapes as they age. there was an episode were her cousin looked like a completely different species.

The reason for the change was actually dictated by the budget,which was extremely tight throughout the show. The actress who played Trance(Laura Bertram)often said that the purple makeup was a problem because the hot studio lights would melt it,so to speak. The gold makeup she began wearing,starting with the episode"Oursboros" was done in such a way that touchups or redos were a rarity,whereas the purple makeup had to be redone several times a day.
