Not sure if this would work for other leather items but, stinky work boots can be stuffed with newpaper, put in a bag and stuck in the freezer for a day. The newspaper absorbs the excess moisture while the freezing kills the bacteria that causes the odor.

Depends on how bad it is, if it is really bad, take it to a dry cleaners that specializes in leather cleaning and that should do the trick. Otherwise let it hand outside for a bit.

Most of the time it is caused by a Black Angus Cow leather. They feed them Chicken turd and saw dust.
