I honestly think that mystery, fantasy and sci-fi writers are wondwerful. It takes a lot of imagination to get a readers interest, and hold it, for the length of a mystery. Honestly, though, fantasy and sci-fi writers...ie Isaac Asimov, Ursula K. LeGuin, Judith Tarr, Ann McCaffrey...are the very best. When you work with our "real" world, there are endless ways to familiarize a reader with the places that are written about. Much harder to keep the interest of a reader when everything is unfamiliar and must be "created" from scratch. Though, yes, they do use a lot of mythology, etc, to build from, still, they take us into the unknown. Fantasy and sci-fi writers must suspend disbelief for their books to work.

Science Fiction and Fantasy authors. I love the ones that have an underlying "Christian" theme as well.

Donita K. Paul, Kathryn Mackel, Wayne Thomas Batson, CS Lewis, Tolkien, to name a few
