I think we are putting our children in risk, when they watch too much TV in which are violent contents. I think we need better parenting skills and choices for better TV solutions. I know we got the ratings for tV shows, but is it really enough from preventing that our children consume to much violence and than become violent themselves?

I wrote some reports in college about children and violence. I think Texas Ranger and Star Wars are pretty mild compared to shows like Law and Order, Alias, The Unit, Smith, 24 and all the CSI's. These shows don't necessarily glorify or encourage/condone violence but rather puts violence on display for all to view through the screen of their television. Although the shows mentioned above and many other violence enhanced shows are actually written well, the content is very strong and very affecting.

It's fine as long as the person watching it knows that it's only fiction and that, that's not how you handle problems in the real world. When there starts to be problems is when you get the wrong type of people watching these shows and getting ideas on how they should behave. It all depends on how you're being raised and what value the viewer has.
