Dreams are powerful guides in our lives. They have been telling and foretelling us ever since. Yet, we hardly pay attention, remember, nor understand them. They are an ultimate achievement in evolution, but rather look as being a leftover of some forgotten times. Instead of being stimulated through schools, courses, etc., in any of our cultures, they are degraded into the group along with horoscopes and palm reading . Why?

Probably because half the time dreams are what's left over from thoughts and ideas that get compiled into what may be consider jumbled nonsense. And the fact that not everyone can tell what their dreams are about, so as a result they dismiss the whole idea as nonsense for everyone. Horoscopes and palm reading rely on chance, things that might happen, while dreams are an extension of possibility, contemplation over what is and what might be as a result of whatever has happened.
I agree that they have been replaced with the more science-oriented world in that dreams are reduced to a bunch of overproduced chemicals in the brain and they are an indication that you're getting too comfortable. Sleep has lost its value, and dreams their power to amaze.

Growing up in the Philippines, everyone has always told me that dreams were a premonition of the future. Everyone was always sooo supersitious and scaring me. For example, they were always telling me that dreaming that your teeth fall out means someone is going to die. So all day I would be freaked out the whole day after having my teeth fall out in a dream. Now I know it's all a bunch of B.S. So I'm a little glad that here in the U.S. they are not so serious about dreams. I can live my life normally and make my own future....
On the flip side, I've also had a couple of scary dreams come true regarding my father & no one here in the U.S. would believe me, saying it was just a coincidence, acting like I was crazy Filipino. I really do think my father & I have a special bond and I am somehow connected to him spiritually...

I love dreaming, but I don't know any more about it than that. I don't want to neglect my dreams but I don't know how to interpret them or think of them, really, except a nice experience kind of like a vacation.
Probably that's why for most people-I don't think horoscopes or palm reading are a degredation though; my palms have interesting things on them and my astrology is like a photograph

Because they are sooo complex . . .
If I can't figure out my own dreams, how could anyone else ?
And for some reason, lots of people either don't remember or don't have (they say) dreams. That I don't understand either but maybe they are so complicated for them that they do not feel able to discuss them.

probably because they are so subjective and difficult to quantify. I have many dreams , yes, some are just junk dreams, me sorting out things, but some are extremely vivid. it would be interesting to see the differences between data collected on each type of dream at sleep institutes

I agree as well.
People just don't seem to care.
Sleep is more important in today's society rather than the "visions" experienced during this process.
We need more people like you to explore the effects of the unconscious mind.
