I have a cute little pair of pink suede pumps and I love them but I am a klutz and don't want to be taken to the ER for a broken ankle. Any tips on wearing and walking in them?

when you walk, swing your arms slightly. it helps you maintain your balance. and then just practice. and don't forget to practice going up and down stairs too!! just remember to hold on to the railing, so you don't loose your balance.

Try to keep your weight evenly distributed in the shoe. Resist the urge to actually walk on your toes. Allow your weight to rest in your heels at times. This will make your hips sway, but go with that, it's part of the point of heels!

Strength in your ankles will also allow you to walk more gracefully in heels. While you're doing things like brushing your teeth or washing dishes, stand in your bare feet and lift your heels off the floor, pressing yourself up on the balls of your feet and then slowly lower your heels back down (this is called a relevé).

Most importantly, make sure the heels fit correctly. You do not want them too narrow or too wide, both will lead to horrible blisters!

It helps if you stand back a little bit. What I mean is, wearing heels throws off your center of gravity, and the natural tendency is to lean forward more than you should, then you eventually teeter and fall over. Do what grandma said ~ stand up straight, put your shoulders back. If you visualize walking with your chest out more than you normally would, and having your legs more in front of you than you would typically walk, that should help with accomplishing the balance thing. And don't pick your feet up too much. Like someone above me said, just glide over the floor.

First, practice practice practice. Anytime I get a new pair of heels I walk around at home in them first, because no pair fits exactly the same.

Stand up straight, and dont let your hips fly to the side when you walk. You should glide, not stomp.

i really don't wear them but you can ask a friend to walk them in and to make sure before u wear them you can break your ankle without being a klutz wearing heels

Like everyone says, practice at home.. Actually, I'm just trying to get used to heels myself, so I'm starting with lower ones. I don't know how high yours are but maybe that'll help. After a bit of practice, I'm pretty good on mine, but they're only 2 1/2 inches so far. Good luck :)

It's easy! i tap dance in three inch heals! If i can do it you can do it! So practice just walking on your toes. And when your walking in heals it should feel more normal. You really need to get used to the idea and walk in them alot because your calve muscles aren't used to being used in that way. Try to keep your weight on your heel and bals of your feet! Good Luck! =]

honey dont risk yourself of spraining your ankle. if you seriously CANT walk in them dont even bother. but if you really want to wear them i suggest standing up with your back straight and just practice walking in them. if you still cant walk in them, return the shoes! LOL

you need to stand up straight first off. it's really all about some balance. practice walking around your house. some people like to walk toe, then heel, but i prefer to go heel, then toe because it's easier to walk that way. you are propeling forward gracefully, and not clomping in them. whatever you do, PLEASE don't stomp!!!
