In America, bikini model publications usually list "vital stats" of the model, such as her age, height, weight, and bust, waist, and hip measurements.

But in Japan, they list her blood type!
This seems really bizarre to me.
Does anyone know why this is?
Do Japanese men find a woman's blood type sexy? Is it some kind of turn-on?
Is this just a product of a different culture?

It's not only the bikini models...it's also the actors, actresses, singers, characters, etc., because Japanese people match certain characteristics to specific blood type. Here are the general characteristics (although it goes into much more details):
Blood Type A: serious
Blood Type B: rough?
Blood Type AB: double personality
Blood Type O: mysterious...
It's one of the things that Japanese people like to ask, as well as their astrological signs, because it is used in fortune tellings, or people get the feeling of what the people are like knowing the blood type.

I'm blood type A...the personalities are pretty accurate as to the descriptions people give of this blood type!

No, I'm Japanese and we don't find anyone else's blood type sexy (even though I'm a woman, but none of the men find a person's blood type sexy)! It's just that Japanese people thought in the past that a person's blood type defines a person's personality.

It's not as popular today, as in the past, because the doctors are starting to say that a blood type that a baby is determined when he/she is born, may not be necessarily accurate, and some people are not told of their blood types (like my sister, who the doctors didn't say what blood type she was...but when I was born, they told me what blood type I was).

Check the websites because it gives you the list of what the people with certain blood types are like.

i am so gonna reveal how much of a nerd I am here...

they do it in manga and anime, too. writers of anime and manga sometimes have stat books on the characters, which includes height, weight, and blood type.

as to why, i don't know. perhaps it has to do with making the character more real to the consumer? Aren't the bikini models sort of playing a character when they get a picture taken? but that's just a guess.

That is odd. I've never heard of this and cannot begin to fathom why.

But I just read about Japenese Idol and it says it lists blood type too. I guess type A means something different from type B. Maybe its like a horoscope thing.

It's a cultural thing. In the West, we ask what your astrological sign is. In Japan they ask what your blood type is.

Have you heard the expression: "keep it clean". I don't think they are advertising models.
