Everyone tells me that I am doing so good and they are shocked when they ask me how far along I am and I tell them any day now. However I have gained 40Ibs. I may look only 8 months preg but I don't feel like it. I seemed to have gained weight in other places than my belly and I don't think this is water weight. I am praying that I am able to fit into my old clothes not long after i have the baby. I am planning on breastfeeding and lot's of walking, yoga and pilates. LOL

Sounds like you are planning to do all the right things! Be patient. It took 9 months for your body to change and it will take about that to get back completely and the right way! That is not to say you won't be in a bikini this summer!

Never, i was a size five when i first got pregnant and now 6 years later i am a size 9. Although i lost ever pound that i had gained while pregnant i still cant fit in my old clothes. I think your hips get wider. This is not true for alot of people though i seen some women that pregnancie didnt even phase them. 40 pounds isnt that much weight though, you should be ok. I bought a tape at walmart called baby yoga that helped real well, you use your baby as a weight to like do ab crunches. Its safe for the baby too but the baby should be about 3 months before you start that though

Never. LOL

My son is almost 2. I was 115 lbs prepregnancy and went up to 200 lbs (mainly waterweight gain). I am now a healthy 135, but know I will never fit into those size 2 jeans ever again.

Not only that, but your body goes through enourmous change during pregnancy. My feet are a permanent size bigger, and my hips are permantely splayed. Also, your body will store extra fat anywhere for the growing baby - hence the reason why you will gain weight in your butt, your thighs, your boobs, your arms, etc.

So my dear, unless you have a personal trainer and the time and energy to spend up to 4 hours a day working out, it will take you a while to get back into those clothes. And trust me, with a newborn the energy will disappear and the breastfeeding will just make you want to eat seven burgers in a single sitting.

Don't worry about it though, you'll get there. Just don't place unreal demands on yourself.

I was into my normal jeans about 2 weeks after my c-section and they were a little big, I needed a belt. I had to wait for the swelling to go down from the incision, otherwise it would have been sooner. BUT I only gained 6 lbs total, so when I left the hospital after delivery I weighed about 37 pounds LESS than my original starting weight at my first prenantal appointment. It depends on you, your body and your baby. If you have a 6 lb baby, you will have more weight to lose compared to a 9.5 lb baby. Your uterus size, amount of fluid, blood loss (blood volume is increased in pregnancy and can account for as much as 3 lbs of your weight gain. If you are breastfeeding and just eating a healthy diet (don't go flying back into exercising like a mad women you will exhaust yourself) you will probably have it all gone in about 3 months. You might need to do some toning in some problem areas (belly, thighs and whatever) but I bet the weight will be gone in about 3 months. GOOD LUCK!!!!!

It all depends on the woman and the circumstances. With my first two babies, I didn't get down to my pre-preganancy weight until my children were about 10-12 months old.

But with my third baby (she's just 3 months old now) I have already returned to my pre-pregnancy weight. In fact, I weigh less now than I ever have. This is due to 2 things. First of all, I'm pumping regularly and eating small amounts of food throughout the day - I'm too busy to eat 3 big meals!

Secondly, my baby has multiple heart defects and we were in the hospital 2 months. So stress actually contributed to some of the weight loss!

Just be patient after your baby is born. Breastfeeding does help accelerate the weight loss for most women, but you can do other things to help it along like "grazing" on food throughout the day and doing light to moderate exercise - and yes, housework counts!

I gained 50 lbs with my first two and 25 with my last. WIth my first if you put a bag over my head I swear you wouldn't be able to tell if I was coming or going. My a$$ was as big as my belly!!!
I was in my jeans by my six week check up with #1. I honestly dont remember with #2, but I know that one took longer. (maybe I bought new clothes???? LOL) And I left the hospital in my running pants with the last one. I breastfed all 3. I exercised the whole time with my last one and got my pre- pregnancy body back really fast and lost another another 15 pounds on top of the baby weight.
It doesnt matter if you lose the weight right away, you will have a beautiful baby to take care of and he/she will love you just however you are!!
Congrats and good luck!!

The key is to lose weight over time after the baby is born and to remember to eat healthy. When you get the urge to snack try to remember fruits and veggies. You do not want to lose all of your pregnancy weight at once. I fit back into my pre-pregnancy clothing/jeans about 4-6 months after my baby was born. But for some people it is hard to lose weight. Breastfeeding will really help you lose weight within the first 6 months as you will be burning a lot of calories. I weighed 125 pounds before becoming pregnant and I was 166 pounds two days before delivery. At my 6-week postpartum checkup I was down to 145 pounds. When I went back to the doctors 3 months later I weighed 115 pounds.

standard rule of thumb is 9 months up, 9 months down. Alot of women are looking great shortly after birth but still have some weight to lose, I think 6 months to really be back is pretty normal. Even if you get back to your prepregnancy weight you may find that some clothes don't fit you the same anymore anyhow, pregnancy changes your body forever.

Wow!!!! Everyone must have hollywood type trainers and nutritionists. There is no way in hell to lose 90 abs of baby gain in 6 months. This is my third. When I got pregnant with my son 5 years ago i weighed 119 lbs. I looked really good but i was starving. When i got pregnant, I ate. And since i hadn't eaten in 2 years, i gained...alot. I did get down to 145 (down from 204) but it took me 14 months and I again didn't do it very healthy. A lettuce salad for lunch-no dressing, and a chicken breast for dinner-nothing else. But that came to an abrubpt halt because I got pregnant with my daughter. Again I gained, not as many pounds because i already weighed 145, but i still topped the 200 mark at delivery. That was 2003 and the Atkins diet was in full craze. I did lose alot of weight fairly quickly but eventually quit the diet and while i didn't gain any weight i did quit losing. I managed to get down to 140 lbs again but it goes up and down . Now i am pregnant again. I am due any time and my very very unrealistic goal is to lose all of my weight by August by any means necessary. I know that i won't be able to do it healthy because I rally don't know any mothers of three under 5 who find time to exercise or the like. Maybe if i had my nanny and my circle of suv soccor mom friends but i do not. Every woman is different. Either way do not get discouraged. And for future reference not everybody cares that you got to wear your prepregnancy jeans 2 weeks after you gave birth. Obviously someone was offended because they voted all the responses with thumbs down. Anyways, good luck.

I breastfed and I truly feel like it hurt my weight loss. My doctor said sometimes the hormones can make you hang to weight rather than lose it. BREASTFEED ANYWAY, I'm just saying, don't rely on it. I was in pre-pregnacy clothes within about 12 weeks, but I didn't exercise. If I would have exercised it would have been maybe 8 weeks.
