I dont think it is, cause it can't reproduce

A hybrid, not a true species. It is a sterile hybrid between a lion and a tiger. Much like a mule, which is a hybrid between a horse and a donkey.

However, it has been shown that female ligers can reproduce.

Not a legitamate species per se but it could be considered a non-official species. Its a hybrid of a tiger and a lion, but Im not sure if hybrids are considered species. Maybe.

they are out there so they have to be a species as far a reproduction i dont know. have they tried to mate two ligers

Some hybrids have reproduced. It's just really rare.
