Nope, that is normal no matter what way you tie it. I always untie mine first, then remove it.

There are many ways to tie a tie, if it is in the "full windsor" knot, then it will have to be untied afterward, but I am sure there are other acceptable methods that would not result in a knot when the tie is removed.

? first off let me state that this question makes just as much sense as this...
"when i take my shoes off, sometimes i take them off before i untie my shoelaces, is this normal? did i tie my shoelaces wrong? cause i think most people untie them before they take them off, what am i doing wrong?"
the tie is in a knot. unless it looks like a bad knot you didnt tie it wrong, now if you want to take your tie off you have two options
DERR YOU CAN UNTIE IT AND THEN TAKE IT OFF OR YOU CAN LOOSEN IT AND TAKE IT OFF AND THEN UNTIE IT DEEERRRRR

Its alot easier.Only time I would undo it would be when it needed cleaning. Its hard sometimes to redo them.Especially when you are in a hurry.
