I am not sure what the question is, but that is a line from a very old English Christmas rhyme taught to children. It goes like this...."Christmas is coming and the goose is getting fat. Please put a penny in the old man's hat (roadside beggars). If you haven't got a penny, a ha'penny (half penny) will do. And if you haven't got a ha'penny, well God bless YOU" LOL. that was far back in time before the British currency went metric, and there were pounds, shillings and pence (pennies). It's funny to realise there are a lot of people around these days who don't know what a "ha'penny" was, and never heard of a "threppeny bit" which was a rather pretty, angulated three-penny coin. By the way "ha'penny" was always pronounced "haypny" .
