i know that in America, most classrooms do that sort of thing. i can't imagine why downloading and taping would be different, legally. it's not like you're selling them, so what would be the harm?

Gore, just do it, as if anyone really cares!
The law states you can keep a recorded program, FOR YOU OWN USE, for 3 weeks, then you must delete it, or be in violation of the copyright act!
Also if shown to a public audience, you should have an entertainment licence.
But you are making a mountain out of a molehill !
