Because the Octane rating is not an indication of power, it is an indication of its anti-knock properties. The reason it is recommended for higher performance cars is that their engines have higher compression ratios in the cylinders... this higher anti-knock property allows them to run much smoother.

Research octane rating only justifies the anti knock ratings. if your vehicle had a knock sensor and the fuel was not high enough in octane then the on board computer would run your timing back to stop knocking. knocking is actually pre ignition which means that the fuel in the cylinder ignites before the piston is at top dead center and tries to push the piston down while it is coming up, thus the noise. if you have a car with a knock sensor them you can expect 2-4 mpg improvemnt if not your only benifit is a cleaner running engine

hope this helps

Your engine may run smoother and stronger but you still are delivering about the same amount of fuel for any given speed. You may in fact get lower mileage. Your engine was designed to run on a particular grade of gas and if the manufacturer's specifications do not require premium grade then there is no reason to use it and no benefit by using it.

Supreme gas is not meant for regular cars to get better gas mileage. It is meant to help high preformance engines (BMW, big SUVs, etc) preform better :-) In fact, you should check the manual to your car. If it does not require supreme gas, it could actually be bad for it!

I use acetone as an additive for better gas mi. It can be purchased by the gallon @ hardware store or walmart. The ratio is 3oz/10 gals. Must be exact. More: mi goes down. Less: doesn't work.

if you do not have a high compression motor you will not need the high octane. Octane is a compound in gas to help it resist pre- ignition. when your piston compresses the air and gas in your cylinder there is a chance that if you use low octane in a high comp. motor that the fuel/air mixture can ignite by itself before the piston is at top dead center this is bad high octane in a low comp. motor is worthless

Premium gas does not have more energy in it. It only has a higher anti-knock quality to prevent detonation. If your engine does not require premium gas, save your money and use regular.
