I'm assuming the hats are baseball caps. You don't say how you shape them, but the bills are basically cloth-covered plastic. Practice on an old cap in case you screw up. Shape it the way you want, then run a blow dryer at it to warm up the plastic. Once it's really warm (not too hot, you don't wanna melt anything!) let it cool COMPLETELY before letting go. It should stay exactly as you molded it. If not, warm it a little hotter and let it cool off again. Experiment!

If it has a hole in the back where it adjust, put the rim inside that. Curve it first, then fold your hat over, not inside out, and put the rim through the hole. This will hold it there and help it keep it's shape. If you don't have a hole, then just put a strong elastic around the rim while it's curved.

This is for the normal curved look. If you want it straight...try running it over with your Honda...I say that because most people who wear the rims straight also drive "Ricer" cars, not being prejudice, that's what they're called around here.

Spend some time in a hot shower and shape it... don't get it wet, but build up enough steam that you can see it in the air.

I used brewed tea to age bone hair pipe, and I think the same approach will work for the straw hat. Just be careful not to do too much at a time or it may get too dark.
