So you do not have to exert any effort to get your love. You just sit there and waiting for her to call you? Doesn't this betray the quote, "God only helps those who help themselves"?

Well, no. Nothing happens if you just sit around. But if you take a step toward your dreams, things start to fall into place. Go for it! If it's meant to be it will be & if it's not then don't fret, there's someone else out there for you. You will probably have to make the first step though if she's anything like me. I've never made the first move in my life. I did make some moves that led me to him however. I moved to a new community & started singing at the bar where I met him, but luckily he approached me. If you just sit around waiting for things to happen, they won't. Things don't just fall into your lap. For instance, I'd like to be an artist & a singer but if I just sit at home wishing it, it's not going to happen. If I start showing my paintings & playing gigs however, I have a shot.
Yes God helps those who help themselves. So help yourself!

If this were the case and we all sat there waiting, how could anything have a chance of happening? Imagine discovering your potential special someone had lived in your neighbourhood for 50 years, and spent his or her weekends going out to local venues trying to find true love without success, and you finally meet at 70 in a retirement home. All because you couldn't be bothered making the effort.

The quotation "God helps those who help themselves" is more applicable to achieving material goals , not about relationships !
If we wish to foster any good relationship, we have to first prepare ourselves as an acceptable person... if this principle is agreed upon, then the quotation applies here too. We help ourselves in shaping ourselves as a good, loving & caring person, and then perhaps, God would allow a like person to get attracted towards us !
