i have an 87 jeep cherokee compact 4.0 litre and it is not getting spark from the dis. cap to the plugs i have replaced the plugs the dis. cap rotor bug had the coil tested what else could it be ?

If you have spark at the coil but not at the distributor then you have localized the source of the problem. On many vehicles the ignition control module is mounted on or in the distributor and is a frequent source of failure, though I can not say for sure if this is the case with your Jeep. If it is depending on how it is set up you may be able to replace the module individually or you might need a whole new distributor.

I would be willing to bet it is the electronic control module.

I had an '80 CJ5 that I had this problem with. I replaced the distributor cap, plugs, plug wires, distributor, and the points and rotor. None of which fixed the problem. The ECM was the only thing left to replace.

replace the cable running from the coil to the dist. cap.

There is a module inside the dist., could be that.

if you have a schematic it might help it helped me with an old buick auto zone should give you one for free

i think its time to get a new car, jeep dose not have a good reputation for reliability; so therefore its a dead car, and i suggest you get a new one.

could be the coil.
