First One Day International Cricket Match was played between Australia and England at Melbourne Cricket Ground on 05.01.1971.

Australia won that match by 5 wickets.

It was a 40 overs match. England batted first and were all out in 39.4 overs for 190 runs. Australia scored 191 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 34.6 overs and won the match by 5 wickets.

The first ODI was played on 5 January 1971 between Australia and England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. When the first three days of the third Test were washed out officials decided to play a one-off one day game consisting of 40 eight-ball overs per side. Australia won the game by 5 wickets.
